Essential Beliefs

Our Foundation

In essential beliefs – we have unity.
(Ephesians 4:4-6)

In non-essential beliefs – we have liberty.
 (Romans 14:1-3)

In all of our beliefs – we show love.
(1 Corinthians 13:2)

Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and serves as our authority.
(2 Tim. 3:16, John 18:37)

God

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost.
(Matthew 3:16-17; 1 John 5:7-8)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ (the Son of God) became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the promised Savior to the lost. He, being fully God and fully man, is the only person to have lived a sinless life.
(Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1, 14; I Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:15)

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit took residence within those who placed their trust in Jesus Christ after he ascended into heaven, and the same is true today. The Holy Spirit is evident and active throughout the entire Bible, but the indwelling of the Spirit in the life of a believer began after Jesus’ ascension. The Holy Spirit’s purpose is to edify and empower the individual believer and church. The Holy Spirit is alive and active today, as well as the gifts of the Spirit chronicled in the New Testament.
(Acts 1:5, 8; Ephesians 3:16)

Humanity

We believe that man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his own effort.
(Genesis 1:26; Romans 3:23)

Salvation

We believe that the blood shed of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person places their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for their sin.
(Luke 24:46-47; John 1:29; Acts 3:19; 1 John 1:7-9; Revelation 5:9)

The Christian Life

We believe every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself.  Mission always trumps personal comfort. M:C will lead the charge in caring passionately for the oppressed, the abandoned, the helpless, and those in spiritual, relational, emotional and physical need.
(Matthew 25:31-46)

The Church

We are a part of the big “C” church. Therefore, we will build bridges and offer innovative partnerships across church denominations, ministries, and organizations to advance God’s Kingdom and serve the city. We believe that together we can share the good news of Jesus Christ with a hurting world regardless of social status, ethnicity or faith background.
(Isaiah 58:6-12)

Community

We provide authentic biblical community. M:C believes the church should be the best place for people to build honest and encouraging relationships that speak, share and seek to live out God’s truth.
(Ephesians 4:1-32)

Generosity

We give generously of our time, talents, and resources to advance the Kingdom.
(2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

Legacy

We place a high priority on our children and youth and will provide Biblical training for them, along with opportunities to be a part of the larger church body.
(Proverbs 22:6, Deut. 6:4-9)

Justice

We place a high priority recognizing the value in all people and are agents of Justice.  We won’t just seek justice we will advocate for it.
(Micah 6:8)
